HALL OF FAME
ARTICLES AND REGULATIONS

PURPOSE

To provide a lasting honor, pay tribute to, and perpetuate the names of those bowlers, living or deceased, who have displayed outstanding Athletic Achievement in the game of American Ten Pins, and/or who have contributed through Meritorious Service, to the general welfare and progress of the game in the area under the jurisdiction of the Middle Tennessee Area USBC BA.

 

The Hall of Fame shall be an official function of the Middle Tennessee Area USBC BA.  The Hall of Fame Committee shall be compromised of all Officers and Directors of the  Middle Tennessee Area USBC BA.  The Committee will investigate all applications and judge applicants with fairness and impartiality.  Contributions to the game of bowling through dedication and promotion, may also be considered for selection to the Hall of Fame.

NOMINATIONS

The privilege of submitting nominations for election to the Hall of Fame is the right of all members of the Middle Tennessee Area USBC BA.  Nominations must be submitted in letter form and should contain the name, address, telephone/cell number, spouse’s name and number of children, if any, of the Nominee.  The Nominee(s) background or biography must be signed by the submitting person(s).  Nominees’ may be active or deceased at the time of submission.  Nominations must be submitted to the Association Manager of the Middle Tennessee Area USBC BA by February 1st, preceding the next scheduled induction ceremonies.  All applications for the Hall of Fame will be filed and considered for a period of three (3) years.  During those three (3) years, a review of all applications on file shall be considered in comparison to new applications.  At the end of the third year, the unsuccessful candidate(s) file will be closed.  A re-application may be submitted subsequent to the third year, by completing a new application as denoted in the Nomination Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

​

To be eligible for election to the Hall of Fame, the Nominee must:
 

• Have been an active participant in the bowling affairs within the area under the jurisdiction of the GNBA/Nashville Area USBC BA/Middle Tennessee Area USBC BA for a minimum of ten (10) years, prior to the date the nomination was submitted.
 

• Be of good repute and sportsmanship.
 

• Have given distinguished service in the promotion of bowling.

• If the Nominee is a bowler, he must have played the game in accordance with ABC/USBC Rules and Regulations.
The qualifications of the Nominee(s) selected by the Committee, will be available for reading at the meeting, when the election process occurs.

• The Nominee(s) must be 50 years and older for consideration.  A bowler who is deceased may be nominated, provided it has been 50 years since the Nominee(s) date of birth.

SELECTION OF NOMINEE

The Hall of Fame Committee shall review all nominations submitted and select the Nominee(s) judged by the Committee to be most qualified and deserving for election.  Nominee(s) shall be elected in two (2) categories:

 

• Athletic Achievement
• Meritorious Service

Selection of Nominee(s) will be by categories.  Candidates for consideration may be bowlers, sponsors, sports writers, radio or television sportscasters, and bowling Association members.  They all shall have individually performed through bowling ability, promotion, and/or other outstanding contributions to the bowling game for at least ten (10) years.

ELECTION

The Hall of Fame Committee will select a Nominee(s) in each category.  It shall take sixty percent (60%) of the votes cast on the first ballot to elect a Nominee to the Hall of Fame.  Should there be more than one (1) Nominee for a category and no Nominee receives sixty percent (60%) of the total votes cast on the first ballot, a second ballot will be cast considering only the two (2) Nominees who received the greatest number of votes and any Nominee tied for the second position on the first ballot.  The Nominee receiving the greatest number of votes on the second ballot, will be declared elected to the Hall of Fame.  If a tie for first place exists after the second ballot, the Nominees tied for first place, shall be declared elected to the Hall of Fame.  This same process will be done for both categories.

CEREMONIES AND AWARDS

​

• An appropriate award will be presented at the Annual Open Meeting to the recipient(s).
 

• The Inductee(s) shall be properly notified and shall be invited to attend the ceremonies with their families and guests.
 

• Each Hall of Fame member(s) name will be forwarded to the USBC Hall of Fame and a certificate purchased by the Middle Tennessee Area USBC BA for each new Hall of Fame member.

AMENDMENTS

These Articles and Regulations may be amended by two-thirds (2/3rds) affirmative vote of members in attendance at any Regular, Special or Call Meeting of the Middle Tennessee Area USBC BA Board of Directors.
